Why brass, and when to move on

Brass is roughly half as dense as tungsten, so a brass dart is noticeably wider than a tungsten dart of the same weight. That matters when you start grouping - three fat darts do not fit in a treble as easily as three slim ones. What brass gives you instead is a proper metal barrel with a real grip and a real point for a fraction of the money, which is exactly what you want while you are working out whether the game is for you and what weight suits your throw.

A sensible spare set too

Plenty of players who throw tungsten at home keep a brass set in the car or the bag - for the pub board, for lending to whoever turns up without darts, or for the games where you would rather not have your good set walking off. At this price they earn their keep as the second set rather than the first.
