Winmau Switch Points

Winmau Switch Points — interchangeable points in Groove, Wave and Smooth styles, changed in seconds without a repointing machine.

The compatibility everyone gets wrong

Switch Point uses an M2.5 thread, and Winmau and Red Dragon market the system as universally compatible with the other major M2.5 point systems — Target Swiss Point, Harrows Quick Points and Caliburn Evo EZ Points. In practice that means a Switch Point barrel isn't a closed ecosystem: you can run point styles from across those ranges without changing the barrel you trust. Target, for its part, states its own Swiss Points are designed for Target SP barrels, so if you're mixing brands it's worth checking what your barrel's maker specifies.

Choosing a point style

Groove and Wave add machined texture along the point, which grips the sisal and can reduce the bounce-outs that come from a point skating off a wire. Smooth keeps the classic profile — cleaner entry, easier retrieval, and kinder to your board over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

▶ Will Switch Points fit my darts?

They fit barrels built for M2.5 threaded points — which includes Winmau and Red Dragon Switch Point barrels, and, per Winmau, the other major M2.5 systems. They will not fit conventional press-fit barrels, which have no thread at all.

▶ How do I know if my barrel is threaded?

Look for a system marking — SP, QP or Switch Point — on the barrel or its packaging. If your points were pressed in at a shop using a machine, you have press-fit barrels and need standard points instead.

▶ Do I need a tool?

Yes — a small point tool, not a repointing press. Many Switch Point dart sets ship with one included; check your set before buying separately.

▶ Does point length change how the dart plays?

It shifts weight forward as length increases, which can steepen the angle the dart sits at in the board. Changing length is the quickest way to alter feel without touching the barrel.
