Red Dragon - Peter Wright Black Mamba - 90% Tungsten Darts

Red Dragon - Peter Wright Black Mamba - 90% Tungsten Darts

The set Snakebite actually keeps coming back to

Peter Wright changes darts more often than most players change flights, which makes the Black Mamba worth paying attention to: these are the barrels he has leaned on most across recent seasons, shaped and rebalanced through competition rather than designed in one sitting. The look matches the name - a classic blacked-out 90% tungsten barrel with a sleek tour profile and no decoration to distract from the grip pattern, which is about as restrained as Snakebite gets.

A long straight barrel with full-length bite

The Black Mamba runs a straight profile at a notably long 54.6mm - 6.1mm across at 22g, 6.3mm at 24g - with centre balance for a smooth, repeatable release. Razor and ringed grooves cover the full length at a 4/5 intensity: enough to locate the hand in exactly the same place every throw without gripping so hard it drags on the way out. Nitro Tech shafts come fitted, and spares are stocked as Nitro Tech, the multipack or the Ionic finish.

Where it sits in the Mamba line

The Mamba story starts with Wright's Euro 11 barrels, which became the Mamba - triple-groove rings, buttress and DeltaTech milling under a PVD green effect - and then the Mamba 2, which pushed the grip to a full 5/5 for players who want maximum aggression. The Black Mamba is the calmer evolution: same lineage, colour stripped back to black and grip eased to a mid-high 4, which is why it suits far more hands than the 2 does. For more Snakebite, the Corra and the 50 Year Anniversary sit alongside it, with Snakeskin Hardcore and Holographic flights for restocks.
