Winmau developed Style 3 by modelling the grip configuration digitally before cutting metal - working out where the fingers actually land and what each zone needs to do, rather than adding texture and hoping. The result is a barrel that gives you a lot of feedback without ever fighting the release, which is the balance most grip-heavy darts get wrong in one direction or the other.

A short, wide torpedo

The barrel is 48.3mm - noticeably shorter than most - and swells to 7.6mm at its widest before tapering away to 5.1mm at the tail. That puts a lot of mass in a short space and leaves a slim rear section, so the dart sits forward in the hand and clears the way for the next one. Every barrel is match weighed, so the three in the packet throw the same.

Multiple grip zones, one clean release

Rather than a single repeated cut down the length, Style 3 runs several distinct textures in sequence, so your fingers have defined reference points instead of a uniform surface. It reads as a moderate 3/5 overall - enough to hold, not enough to snag - and the natural tungsten finish keeps the tactile response consistent whether your hands are warm or cold.

Where it sits in the Sniper family

The Sniper line has been one of Winmau's longest-running barrels. If you want the same aggression in black PVD, the Sniper Black and Sniper Black Style 2 are both stocked, and the Sniper Special Edition 1 takes the grip all the way to 5/5. The rest of the range is in Winmau darts.
