Description

Bull's NL - Advantage 8 Dartboard Surround

Built to finish the Advantage 8 setup

Bull's designed this surround alongside the Advantage 8 dartboard, and it shows. The black and grey body carries the same restrained gold detailing as the board - a gold Bull's crest at twelve o'clock, the Advantage infinity mark at the foot and fine gold corner lines - so the two read as one piece on the wall rather than a board with a ring round it.

Miss without consequence

A surround is the cheapest insurance in darts. This one adds roughly 12cm of protection all the way round the board, which covers the great majority of stray throws. Just as usefully, it stops the point of a bounced-out dart meeting a hard wall - which is what bends points and chips barrels.

Injection-moulded foam core, reinforced PU shell

Bull's build the Advantage 8 surround around an injection-moulded, reinforced high-density foam core in a reinforced PU shell. It absorbs impact and resists penetration rather than letting a dart punch through, and it holds its shape and finish far longer than the soft EVA rings sold at the budget end.

No tools, no measuring

There is no bracket, no adhesive and nothing screwed into the wall. The ring is cut to fit a standard dartboard precisely, so it hangs over the board and holds itself in place - and comes off in seconds when you want to rotate the number ring. It fits any standard 18-inch bristle board; the obvious partner is the Advantage 8 Professional Dartboard it was designed for, and the rest of our wall protection lives in surrounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to buy the Advantage 8 dartboard to use this surround?

No. The Advantage 8 Surround is cut to fit any standard 18-inch bristle dartboard, so it will work with whatever board you already own. It is styled to match the Advantage 8 in black, grey and gold, but that is a design choice rather than a fitting requirement.

How is it fitted to the wall?

It is not. The surround hangs over the dartboard itself — no bracket, no adhesive and nothing screwed into the wall. Take the board off its fixing, drop the surround over it, and rehang. It comes off just as quickly when you want to rotate the number ring.

How much wall does it actually protect?

About 12cm in every direction from the edge of the board. That covers the overwhelming majority of stray darts. It also does the quieter job of catching bounce-outs before the point hits a hard wall, which is what bends points and chips barrels.

Is high-density foam better than rubber?

They behave differently. High-density foam takes a dart cleanly and closes back up behind it, so it stays looking tidy through heavy use and weighs far less on the wall. Rubber is heavier and more rigid, and tends to deflect a dart rather than absorb it. For home and club setups the foam is generally the more pleasant of the two to live with.
