The Red Dragon May 2026 release — the drop that brought Switch Point technology across Red Dragon's hero player darts.

What landed

Three signature barrels moved onto the interchangeable point system: Luke Humphries' TX1 Pioneer (SP), developed with the World Champion; Jonny Clayton's Hiraeth (SP), co-designed around his exact tour setup with a raw, textured Welsh-inspired barrel; and Gerwyn Price's Blue Original (SP). Alongside them came Gian van Veen's Tour Edition (SP) and two performance barrels, the Recon Parallel (SP) and Ascend Parallel (SP) — all 90% tungsten — plus Nitro Flite integrated flights in Clayton's Kite and Price's No.2.

Why Switch Point matters

It moves point-changing from a workshop task to a between-legs one. The system uses an M2.5 thread and Red Dragon markets it as universally compatible with the other major M2.5 ranges — Target Swiss Point, Harrows Quick Points and Caliburn Evo EZ Points — so you can adjust point length or grip for a different board without buying new barrels.

Frequently Asked Questions

▶ Is (SP) here the same as Target's Swiss Point?

No. On a Red Dragon barrel, SP means Switch Point — Red Dragon and Winmau's own system. It shares the M2.5 thread family with Swiss Point, and Red Dragon markets the two as compatible, but they're different technologies.

▶ Do the SP versions play differently from the standard barrels?

The barrel shape and grip carry over; what changes is the ability to swap points. Weight distribution can shift slightly if you fit a different point length.

▶ What are Recon and Ascend?

Non-signature performance barrels in parallel profiles — the same Switch Point technology without a player name attached, usually at a keener price.
