▶ What do I need for a home dartboard setup?

At minimum: a bristle dartboard, a surround to protect the wall, and a mat or oche to mark the throw line. Lighting is the most common next upgrade — it removes shadows cast by your own darts.

▶ What height and distance should a dartboard be?

The bullseye should be 5ft 8in (1.73m) from the floor, and the throw line (oche) 7ft 9¼in (2.37m) horizontally from the face of the board. A marked dart mat makes getting this right effortless.

▶ Do dartboard surrounds fit all boards?

Most surrounds are made for standard 451mm competition dartboards, which covers nearly every full-size bristle board from Winmau, Target, Unicorn and Red Dragon. Check the listing if your board is a non-standard size.

▶ Is dartboard lighting worth it?

Yes — overhead room lighting casts shadows from your darts across the scoring area. A dedicated light ring like the Winmau Plasma or Target Corona gives even, shadow-free illumination across the whole board.
