It frames the beds warmly, suits a traditional games room or pub corner, and - the practical bonus - hides the marks of heavy use better than any pale finish will. What a surround actually saves you

Plaster, points and flights. Stray darts hit the surround instead of the wall, points stay sharp because they never meet brick, and darts that would have dropped to a hard floor are caught before they bend or split. For the cost of a couple of sets of flights it protects the room and the kit at the same time.
