Pyro G12: Mitsumasa Hoshino's motorcycle-inspired torpedo

Twelve generations deep, the Pyro line has earned its place as one of Japanese darts' longest-running signature series — and the G12 is the most openly aggressive of the lot. The concept this time is a motorcycle at full throttle, flame splitting from the exhaust: speed, machine power and burning momentum, which is about as close a match to Mitsumasa Hoshino's throw as a design brief gets. Next to the gold-finished Pyro G11, the G12 swaps flame-engraved decoration for flame-shaped milling you can actually feel, and drops the whole thing into a premium PVD Black finish.

The G12 runs a torpedo profile with its centre of gravity pushed forward, which gives it real drive through the release — quick acceleration, direct entry into the board and very little hesitation on the way out. What makes this one different from every Pyro before it is the front section. Sharply milled flame patterns cut into the nose end give strong grip and unmistakable finger feedback exactly where forward grippers make contact. It's the first Pyro to put pronounced milling that far up the barrel, and it turns the front from decoration into a working grip zone.

Behind the flames, the design borrows from the cylinder head of a high-performance engine: the centre reads as engineered, mechanical, precise. The rear alternates delta cuts with polygonal rings for a texture that's genuinely distinctive under the fingers — clear enough to give you confidence in where you're holding, but stopping short of the kind of bite that snags on release. Hoshino tuned that balance personally, and it shows in how repeatable the dart feels. At 50mm with 7.45mm on the 23g and 7.7mm on the 25g, this is a substantial barrel with plenty of surface to work with.

Points are Swiss Point fitting: 30mm Swiss Points sit flush in the nose and change out in seconds using the included Swiss Point tool, so you can experiment with point length without disturbing how the barrel sits in the hand.
