Description

SteadyThrow - Lite Mini Raised Oche

A proper raised oche, without drilling a single hole

A raised throw line is the difference between guessing where you are standing and knowing it. Your toe finds the edge without looking down, which means your stance repeats itself, which is most of what consistency actually is. The problem has always been fitting one - and the SteadyThrow Lite Mini solves that with hook-and-loop strips rather than screws. It goes down in minutes on most floor surfaces, holds firm throw after throw, and lifts away when you want the room back.

580mm - the short one, for tighter rooms

This is the Mini: 580mm across rather than the 880mm of the standard SteadyThrow Lite. It is the one to pick if your throwing area is narrow, if the board is in a converted space with a doorway or furniture close by, or if you simply want less bar underfoot. It still gives you a full, solid edge to stand to - just a shorter one.

2mm steel, so it behaves like a fixture

Cut from 2mm steel and powder coated, it does not curl at the ends, bunch up under your foot or slide forward the way a rubber mat line does. That last point is the one people notice: a mat creeps a little every time you step on it, and by the end of a session your oche has moved. This does not, because it is rigid and because the hook and loop holds it. At 1.5kg it is still light enough to pick up with one hand.

Six colours, and it stores flat

Black, white, blue, light grey, yellow and red - so it either disappears into the floor or stands out deliberately, whichever you are after. When you are done it comes up and slides behind a door or under a sofa, which makes it a sensible choice for a shared room where a permanent oche was never going to be allowed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I get the Mini or the standard 880mm?

It comes down to the room. The 880mm gives you a wider line to move along, which suits a garage, a dedicated darts room or anywhere you like to shift your stance between throws. The 580mm Mini is for tighter spaces - a spare bedroom, a hallway, or anywhere a doorway or furniture sits close to the throwing area. Both give you the same solid edge to stand to.

Will it damage my floor?

It fixes with hook-and-loop strips rather than screws, so there is no drilling and nothing permanent. The adhesive side sits on your floor, so on delicate finishes it is worth testing in a corner first - and one customer's approach for a carpeted mat is to leave the loop strip hidden underneath the mat between sessions.

Does it slide forward when you stand on it?

No, and that is the main reason to choose it over a printed line on a mat. Rigid 2mm steel held by hook and loop stays where you put it, where a mat creeps forward a fraction each time you step on it and quietly moves your oche over the course of a session.

Can I take it up and store it away?

Yes - that is the point of the hook-and-loop fixing. It lifts away in seconds and stores flat behind a door or under furniture, then goes back down in the same spot next time. At 1.5kg it is easy to carry, so it also travels to a mate's house or the club.
