Evolution technology, twin engineered

The Panterra combines two innovative grip and coating technologies in one barrel. Red Dragon's Evolution technology creates a dart with exceptional touch resistance, flexibility and deadly accurate handling — the milled grooves working with the coating rather than against it, so the grip stays consistent as the barrel wears in.

Dual-coated bronze

The finish is the signature: a dual-coated bronze design over black and silver that marks the Panterra out on any oche. The parallel barrel runs 50.8mm across the range — 6.6mm at 22g, 6.8mm at 24g and 7.0mm at 26g — with an elliptical nose, black high tensile points, and a firm 4/5 milled grip across the full length.

What is Red Dragon's Evolution technology?

It is the combination of the milled grip and the coating being designed together rather than one applied over the other. The grooves are cut to a depth that works with the dual coating, so the barrel keeps the same feel as it beds in instead of the grip softening as the finish wears. In practice it means the Panterra should throw the same in a year as it does out of the packet.

How grippy is the Panterra?

Milled grooves at 4 out of 5, running the full length of the barrel. That is a firm grip, a step up from the mid-range but short of the aggressive end. Because it is full length rather than zoned, it does not matter exactly where along the barrel you hold, which suits players whose grip position moves slightly from throw to throw.

Which weight should I choose?

All three sit on the same 50.8mm parallel barrel, so the only thing changing is width: 6.6mm at 22g, 6.8mm at 24g and 7.0mm at 26g. If you already know your weight, pick it and the feel carries across. If you are switching up from a lighter set, going one step at a time is easier on your throw than a big jump.

Is the bronze finish just cosmetic?

Mostly, yes. The dual coating over black and silver is what gives the Panterra its look, and it is the reason it stands out on the oche. Functionally the coating also protects the barrel surface, but the grip you feel comes from the milled grooves underneath rather than the finish on top.
