The A barrel: slim and straight-flying

The Hellfire A takes the slimmer profile of the pair — a narrow parallel 50.8mm barrel for tighter grouping and cleaner board entry, at 6.35mm for 22g and 6.6mm for 24g. Full-length square grooves at a moderate 3 out of 5 give dependable finger placement and a smooth release, making it a superb first tungsten set that experienced players still rate.

Hardcore flights, VRX shafts

Are the Hellfire A a good first set of tungsten darts?

They are one of the best value entry points there is. You get genuine 80% tungsten, match-weighed barrels and a 2BA thread that fits standard points, shafts and flights, at a price closer to a brass set. The 3 out of 5 square groove grip is firm enough to feel secure but not so aggressive that it catches on release, which is exactly what you want while your throw is still settling.

What is the difference between the Hellfire A and the Hellfire B?

Both are 80% tungsten with the same grip and the same price. The A is the slim one: a 50.8mm barrel at 6.35mm for 22g or 6.6mm for 24g, with a rounded nose. The B is shorter and wider, a constant 7.2mm across 45.7mm at 24g or 48.3mm at 26g with an elliptical nose. Pick the A if you like a pencil-thin barrel and tight grouping, the B if you prefer more dart in your fingers.

What comes in the box?

Three Hellfire A barrels with points fitted, one set of VRX polycarbonate medium shafts and one set of Hardcore extra-thick standard flights. Everything you need to throw straight away. Red Dragon sometimes varies the flight design, so the print may differ from the photographs.

Will my own shafts and flights fit?

Yes. The Hellfire A uses the standard 2BA thread, so any 2BA shaft will screw straight in, and the flights are a standard fit. Only the points are fixed, as with most steel tip sets at this price.
