Description

Bull's DE - Artos AR1 - 80% Tungsten Darts

Artos AR1: quietly clever engineering at an entry price

The Artos is one of the latest generations of darts from Bull's, and it hides more thought than its clean silver looks suggest. The headline trick is in the balance: the bare barrel's centre of gravity is deliberately shifted a few millimetres towards the tip, so that once the shaft and flight are screwed on, the assembled dart balances exactly at the middle of the barrel. The result is a calmer flight path and noticeably less scatter — flight characteristics genuinely unusual at this price.

Grippy in hand, clean out of it

The 80% tungsten straight barrel's surface is machined for a specific compromise: optimal grip while you hold it, easy release when you throw — so the dart leaves the hand with less unwanted twist. It's a medium 3/5 texture running the full length, forgiving of grip position and ideal for players still settling on theirs. For Bull's other 80% entry option with a more zoned grip layout, compare the Phantom PT4; new players should also read our best darts for beginners guide.

A matched, measured setup out of the box

Even the accessories are specified to the gram: the poly shaft with aluminium ring weighs 1.2g at exactly 48mm, and the included Metrixx flight in the standard A-shape offers an extra-large 47cm² surface at 150 microns thick (0.7g) — a stable, forgiving flight that complements the barrel's balanced design. Our dart flights guide explains why bigger flights suit developing throws.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's included with the Bull's Artos AR1?

The set contains three Artos AR1 80% tungsten barrels with steel points, three Bull's Metrixx standard A-shape flights in 150 micron, and three 48mm poly shafts with aluminium rings.

What grip does the Artos AR1 have?

A machined ringed grip surface covering the full barrel length, rating 3 out of 5 - a balanced medium grip that works for most holding styles.

What weights does the AR1 come in?

Two weights: 22g on a 49mm barrel and 24g on a 50mm barrel, both with a 6.9mm diameter straight profile.

Are the AR1 good starter darts?

Yes - the 80% tungsten build keeps the price accessible while still giving a compact, durable barrel, and the thick 150 micron Metrixx flights survive the knocks of early practice sessions.
